16mm dry ice pellets are versatile, medium-size pellets of solid carbon dioxide designed for reliable cooling and longer temperature retention during shipping and storage. Their larger size slows the sublimation rate compared to smaller dry ice rice, allowing them to maintain stable freezing temperatures inside insulated containers for extended periods.

Pellets are easy to measure, distribute evenly throughout a container, and conform to different packaging shapes, making them ideal for shipping frozen food, transporting laboratory specimens, operating dry ice blasting equipment, and other applications that require dependable cold control during transit. 

Our dry ice pellets are available for purchase in 15lb or 45lb containers.

How Our Products Ship:

When ordering from ShipDryIce.com, each product ships in its own reusable container based on the weight ordered. Orders including multiple items or containers will not be combined or consolidated into a larger shipping box.

For example, if you order two 15 lb containers of dry ice pellets, you will receive two separate boxes, each containing 15 lbs of dry ice in their own styrofoam shipping container.

To avoid orders being held up in a shipping facility over the weekend we only ship orders Monday through Thursday. We do NOT ship orders on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

Return & Refund Policy:

Due to the nature of dry ice, all sales are final. Dry ice is a temperature-sensitive product that continuously sublimates (transitions from solid to gas) over time, even under proper storage conditions. As a result, we are unable to accept returns or offer refunds once an order has been fulfilled.

We take great care in packaging and shipping to ensure your order arrives in optimal condition. If you experience an issue with your delivery, please contact us promptly so we can review and assist where possible.

How Much Dry Ice Do I need?

The amount of dry ice required depends on container size, insulation, and transit time. As a general guideline, we recommend approximately 10 pounds of dry ice per 24-hour period for maintaining frozen temperatures inside an insulated shipping container.

For longer shipments or larger containers, additional dry ice may be required to compensate for sublimation loss.

2" Styrofoam Shipping Container

All dry ice orders ship inside a 2-inch thick reusable insulated Styrofoam container designed to help maintain freezing temperatures during transit. These containers provide effective insulation and help slow the sublimation rate of dry ice.

Because dry ice sublimates directly from solid carbon dioxide into gas, it keeps shipments extremely cold without creating moisture or liquid residue that could damage packaging or products.

Sublimation Warning!

Dry ice naturally sublimates, meaning it converts directly from solid carbon dioxide into gas. Under typical conditions, dry ice sublimates at the following rates every 24 hours inside an insulated container:

  • Rice will lose 8lbs every 24 hours
  • Pellets lose 7lbs every 24 hours
  • Blocks lose 5lbs every 24 hours

Important: When planning a shipment, it is important to account for this sublimation rate. Longer shipping times and warmer environments will increase the rate at which dry ice evaporates.

-15lb containers shipping to zone 2 may result in substantial product loss (due to natural sublimation) before arrival. We recommend purchasing 45lb containers if shipping to zone 2. See Shipping Map

-Orders placed after 3pm EST may not ship same day.
